Platteklip Gorge Starting Point
Platteklip Gorge is where your hiking boots meet a stair master. The ascent is an excellent workout with rewarding views over Cape Town. Best tackled in the morning to avoid parking woes or pick up an Uber. Average hikers should budget about 2-4 hours for the round trip, but the trail is open to anyone with determination and water. If heights make you uneasy, know that it's perfectly possible as a loop up and down or a one-way with the cable car. Pack small: cash for the summit surprises, like ice cream or a simple coffee.
