Go at sunset on a clear evening, before the wind picks up — the balcony looks out over Bo-Kaap, the harbour, and Table Mountain from fourteen floors up. It's a hotel rooftop, so it works for a first date or a catch-up with out-of-town friends rather than a big night out: the menu is short, the cocktails are solid, and nobody rushes you off the table. Book ahead on a Friday or Saturday, otherwise you can usually walk in and find a spot at the bar.
